Responsibilities
Support the mechanical design of transit stations, tunnels, and maintenance facilities, including HVAC and tunnel ventilation systems
Assist in preparing contract drawings, specifications, and technical documents
Perform engineering calculations and system modeling under guidance from senior engineers
Help ensure designs comply with NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes, and other relevant standards
Collaborate with architects, structural, and electrical engineers to understand integrated design solutions
Participate in design reviews, QA/QC processes, and learn best practices in mechanical engineering design for transit
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
EIT certification required; PE licensure a future goal
0–5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally with HVAC or ventilation systems in buildings or transit facilities
Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and relevant codes (NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
Enthusiasm for learning, professional growth, and working in a collaborative team environment
Clear communication skills and willingness to engage with multidisciplinary teams
