Senior Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, Local Recovery Coordinator
USAJOBS is seeking a Senior Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor to serve as a Local Recovery Coordinator within the Veterans Health Administration. The role involves developing recovery-oriented strategies, providing education and training on recovery concepts, and supporting Veterans and their families in navigating recovery services.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies to foster a recovery-oriented culture within the facility
Create and maintain a Recovery Action Plan tailored to the facility's needs
Advocate for and support the integration of recovery principles into all aspects of mental health service delivery
In conjunction with the Chief of Psychology and the Associate Chief of Behavioral Health, the LRC develops a 3-5-year plan for the facility that identifies staged implementation of recovery-oriented services (e.g., use of recovery plans)
Provide training and education to staff, Veterans, and stakeholders on recovery concepts and practices
Develop educational materials and resources to promote understanding of recovery-oriented healthcare
Develops an ongoing education plan for Veterans and families which includes, but is not limited to; recurrent didactic presentations about recovery by experts; recurrent presentations by recovering individuals, especially Veterans; information about VA and community mental health support groups and other resources; and information about how to become involved in improving mental health care for Veterans through the Veterans Mental Health Advisory Committee and the Patient Experience Committee
Facilitate the inclusion of Veterans and family members in the planning and evaluation of mental health services
Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote recovery-oriented care
Support the development of new recovery-focused programs and initiatives
Evaluate the effectiveness of recovery-oriented services and interventions
Serve as a liaison between the facility, VISN, and VA Central Office on matters related to recovery
Directly support Veterans and their families in navigating recovery services
Promote the integration and utilization of peer support services within the facility
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to recovery initiatives
Stay current with developments in the field of recovery-oriented mental health care
Provides a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services and suicide assessment
Provides a full range of interventions consistent with training and expertise, with special emphasis on evidenced-based treatments
Evidence-based treatments to be provided to Veterans individually or in group format with appropriate documentation and measurement of effectiveness and Veteran response using clinical judgment and standardized assessment instruments
Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients across the Behavioral Health service including the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program and the Outpatient Behavioral health Team
Prompt completion of clinical reminders
Provides administrative duties including: Scheduling of Veterans and related issues, returning Veterans' phone calls and secure messages, writing reports, attending organizational meetings
On-going professional training and experiences are an expectation of the position. This duty is met through workshops, intra-VA assignments, and distance learning
Qualification
Required
Be a citizen of the United States
Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; or a related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor
Must be proficient in spoken and written English
Possess a valid, unrestricted State driver's license, have a safe driving record, and demonstrate that he or she is medically qualified to operate the appropriate motor vehicle safely
Must complete all application requirements detailed in the 'Required Documents' section of this announcement
Must serve a 1 or 2-year trial period during which fitness will be evaluated
