Responsibilities

Manage daily operations of the Learning Support Center, including supervision and training of graduate assistants, student assistants, and instructional student assistants
Design, implement, and evaluate academic support programs, workshops, and tutoring services to enhance student learning and retention
Develop and coordinate programs supporting degree completion, graduate school preparation, and career readiness
Collaborate with campus partners such as the Writing Center, Math & Statistics Learning Center, and Student Affairs departments to strengthen academic success initiatives
Assess student needs, track participation and outcomes, and prepare reports to inform program development and improvement
Maintain Learning Support Center communications, including website updates, newsletters, and social media
Represent EOPOS and the Learning Support Center at campus events, orientations, and student success initiatives
Support key EOPOS programs and events, including Summer Bridge, EOPOS Graduation, and First Contact

Required

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related
A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience
A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience
Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior and the practices, policies, and trends within student services, instructional, and tutorial programs
Working knowledge of student development theory and academic support strategies that promote student retention, persistence, and success
Demonstrated ability to apply learning theory, learning styles, and socio-cultural or linguistic awareness in supporting diverse student populations
Proven capacity to analyze complex situations, exercise sound judgment, and develop effective courses of action in sensitive or challenging contexts
Demonstrated commitment to equity-minded practices, with the ability to apply concepts of power, privilege, and inclusion to create supportive learning environments
Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, including cross-cultural competency and the ability to facilitate difficult dialogues
Proficiency with student support systems (e.g., EAB Navigate), Google Suite, and Microsoft Office applications

One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required
