Responsibilities

Early phase conceptualization and brainstorming
Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams
Design and fabrication of prototype mechanical models/systems
Use of SolidWorks or other CAD programs for mechanical design development
Use of basic shop tools and equipment
Troubleshooting of models/systems
Testing/optimization of systems for subsequent commercialization
Interfacing directly with vendors and potentially clients
Developing code to interface with electromechanical systems or analyze datasets

Required

will have completed at least their second year of post-high school education by the start of the internship
are currently pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field and will return to an academic program at the end of the internship
are knowledgeable of engineering fundamentals, mechanical design, and material mechanics
are flexible, creative, adaptable, and demonstrate a desire to learn
effectively communicate their work and ideas to interdisciplinary groups
are expected to be fully in-person at the location listed for this position
Candidates must include a portfolio with their resume/application
Candidates are required to provide either a pdf or linked portfolio to their application. Applications without any form of portfolio will be disregarded

Preferred

enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in an informal work environment with minimal supervision
aptitude with hand and machine tools
familiarity with 3D modeling as a primary tool for engineering development
