Responsibilities
Assess existing distribution systems and recommend improvements on the design to increase reliability, efficiency, and performance
Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments of the distribution model/design provided
Ensure compliance with industry and SDG&E standards and regulations
Train and mentor staff on best design practices and standard operating procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, related field or equivalent training and/or experience
8+ years progressive experience in Designer roles with responsibilities, activities, and tasks/duties in all material aspects which require substantially the same levels of functional knowledge and skills to perform
Must have experience with New Business projects
3+ years of senior level Designer, project management or lead experience
Advanced demonstrable knowledge of, and experience with, the interpretation and application of engineering principles, Overhead, Underground and Gas Standards, Design Manuals, Service Planning Manuals, Service Guides and CPUC Rules, as required
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems, required
Advanced proficiency in O-Calc Pro, SAP, DPSS, CISCO, word processing, spreadsheets and Outlook required
1-2 years experience creating custom gas and electric AUD builds for utilities
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to quickly learn and develop a strong working knowledge of various software applications
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Strong customer service skills and proactive follow-up (internal and external) Proficient in oral and written communication
Preferred
Project or construction management certification or equivalent is preferred
Knowledge of SAP (preferred)
