Responsibilities
Design of mechanical components and subsystems, including cryostat assemblies, enclosures, and signal chain hardware
Develop and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Support design reviews, tolerance analyses, and documentation of mechanical interfaces
Collaborate with senior engineers on thermal and mechanical design challenges in cryogenic environments
Participate in lab activities, including prototype assembly, testing, and validation
Work cross-functionally with hardware, cryo, RF, and systems teams
Maintain clear design documentation, version control, and traceability within the PLM system
Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and lab workflow
Qualification
Required
B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
3+ years of relevant industry or academic experience (internships, co-ops, or project-based)
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, GD&T, and basic tolerance analysis
Familiarity with materials and mechanical systems operating in thermal or vacuum environments
Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
Experience with design documentation, revision control, and PLM tools
Preferred
Exposure to thermal or structural simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL)
Experience with hands-on prototyping, machining, or assembly
Interest in cryogenic systems, precision hardware, or RF/electronic packaging
