Department Assistant Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator I)
California State University is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Department Assistant Coordinator to serve as the front-line contact for a busy academic department. This role supports both the administrative and instructional needs of the department, ensuring efficient daily operations, faculty support, and student engagement.

Responsibilities
• Administrative Support: Manage front-desk reception, phone and email communications, mail distribution, office equipment training, key distribution, procurement, and support for departmental events and administrative tasks
• Instructional Program Support: Assist students with course and scheduling inquiries; support faculty with instructional materials, document preparation, and file management; aid graduate advisors and help build semester course schedules
Qualification
Required
Fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices
Ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing
Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages
Experience working in an office setting
Experience with Microsoft Office suite
Experience with Google suite
Ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature
Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist
Ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts with students, faculty and staff from underrepresented groups
