Civil Designer - Digital Survey - Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a mid-level Civil Designer to join the Digital Survey team at their Lone Tree, CO office. The role involves developing detailed 3D CAD models, acquiring and modeling existing surface data, and updating these models as new survey information becomes available.

Responsibilities

Create 3D models using construction plans and shop drawings
Research available public surface data
Serve as a primary resource for LiDAR data processing on KIE projects
Work with point cloud data collected from mobile, terrestrial and/or airborne collection methods
Create surfaces from extracted feature lines or point cloud data
Conduct quality control on deliverables
Extract existing structures from point cloud data
Provide updates to existing surface models from completed survey requests
Manage and maintain the basis of design information that is derived from survey
Mentor Junior Designers as needed

Required

At least an associate degree in computer aided design, 3D modeling, drafting or similar program experience
3-8 years of experience in computer aided design, modeling or drafting field
Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation Connect
General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for civil/structural work
Ability to comprehend civil/structural contract drawings
Proven experience with task organization and prioritization
Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize
Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail
Effective oral and written communication skills
Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
Regular, reliable attendance
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required
May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Preferred

Experience with Trimble Business Center
Survey experience on civil construction projects
Experience modeling in Civil 3D and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer
Experience with LiDAR extraction
