Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer, Robotics, Body in White, Semi
Tesla is seeking a Controls Dev Engineer (Robotics) on the Semi team to be part of a world-class team of engineers responsible for designing and building robotic equipment at the Tesla factories. The role involves managing robotics equipment solutions for automotive projects, focusing on process optimization and equipment management.

Responsibilities
Responsible for designing, selecting, managing, programming, and commissioning of automation equipment
Responsible for implementing and managing continuous process optimization including the addition of advanced and conventional technologies to improve quality, productivity and reduce overall waste
Overall responsibility for all robotics-related activities in the shop
Leading and assisting production in all robotics related topics and issues
Support and aid maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures
Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required by modifications
Identify weak areas of the production systems using root cause analysis and first principles thinking and implement effective countermeasures using all available means
Design, implement and maintain robot vision guidance systems that will enable fully automated production lines
Optimization and improvement of human machine interfaces, and SCADA systems and MES interfaces for the vehicle organization
Creation and improvements of equipment safety standards, and the implementation of those standards into the manufacturing equipment, including periodic checks and qualification inspections
Understand and program using several different programming styles, including ladder logic, structured text
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Robotics Engineering or equivalent experience
2+ years of professional robotics experience in automotive industry
2+ years of advanced robotics programming knowledge on KUKA, Fanuc, or equivalent robotics in a professional environment
Basic PLC programming skills with Siemens, Rockwell or equivalent
Robotic safety programming including Kuka Safe, DCS
Proven project management experience
Proficient in CAD working with electrical diagrams and prints
Great problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to objectively resolve conflict within a large group
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Able to work flexible hours and schedules
