SEASONAL Lead Recreation Fee Technician

Responsibilities
Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc
Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds
Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or Point of Sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions; perform opening and closing functions; issue entrance receipts, tour tickets, permits, etc
Test reservation system functionality in automated reservation systems such as Recreation.gov and report findings as appropriate. Approve or deny formal refund requests submitted by the public in the system
Serve as a technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive problems associated with the collection, remittance, and deposit of fee revenue and donations

Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required
You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record
You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
A uniform allowance will be provided
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work
Travel, transportation & relocation expenses will not be paid. Relocation expenses will be the employee's responsibility

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience
Quality Ranking Factor: Handling Money: Having experience collecting and accounting for monies
To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service
Examples of specialized experience include: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; or resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process
EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position in a field such as accounting, business, or finance
The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts
COMBINATION: Possession of an equivalent combination of education and experience
For example, 6 months of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 9 semester hours of graduate study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education), equals 100% of the total requirement
You must include hours per week worked and must include transcripts
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service
Examples of specialized experience include: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; performing recurring or standardized accounting transactions such as remittances and bank deposits in automated financial systems; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; or resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process
You must include hours per week worked
EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position in a field such as accounting, business, or finance

COMBINATION: Possession of an equivalent combination of education and experience
For example, 6 months of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 12 semester hours of graduate study from an accredited institution (75% of the qualifying education), equals greater than 100% of the total requirement

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social)
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
