Postdoctoral Fellow - Forensic Psychologist - Milledgeville, GA
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Forensic Psychology Fellow at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, GA. The role involves providing clinical and forensic psychological services under supervision, including conducting evaluations and offering psychotherapy to forensic inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilities
Consults reference material such as textbooks, manuals, and journals in order to identify symptoms, to make diagnoses, and to develop approaches to treatment
Counsels individuals and groups regarding problems such as stress, substance abuse, and family situations, in order to modify behavior and/or to improve personal, social, and vocational adjustment
Develops and implements individual treatment plans, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy
Discusses the treatment of problems with clients
Evaluates the effectiveness of counseling or treatments, and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, then modify plans and diagnoses as necessary
Identifies psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues, and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and reference materials
Interacts with clients to assist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to achieve effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment
Observes individuals at play, in group interactions, or in other contexts to detect indications of mental deficiency, abnormal behavior, or maladjustment
Obtains and studies medical, psychological, social, and family histories, by interviewing individuals, couples, or families, and by reviewing records
Provides occupational, educational, and other information to individuals so that they can make educational and vocational plans
Qualification
Required
Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited college or university
Completion of an APA-approved psychology internship
Preferred
Doctoral degree (Ph.D/Psy.D.) in clinical psychology from an APA approved graduate school
Completion of an APA approved pre-doctoral internship with forensic rotation
Eligibility for Georgia psychology license
