Responsibilities
Performs routine tasks and patron services at the circulation desk, including, but not limited to: readers’ advisory, circulation, reference and opening/closing duties
Assists users with computers and other technology and equipment
Maintains good relations with the public and other library staff; communicates effectively, courteously, and tactfully
Processes delivery items, returns, problem circulation items & hold requests
Learns and enforces library policies and guidelines
Shelves returned materials and reads assigned shelves to maintain order
Identifies damaged and worn materials, assists with processing and repairs as appropriate
Participates in workshops, continuing education, and planning groups as assigned
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Graduation from High School or equivalent
Minimum 1-2 years of customer service or relevant experience
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and the public
Ability to work effectively in both individual and collaborative environments
Ability to use and troubleshoot technology, including common business equipment, computer applications, and library catalog
Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling and crouching
Ability to move and/or lift materials up to 40 pounds
Preferred
Some college preferred
