Technical Project Manager and Solutions Architect

PAWS Chicago is seeking a proactive and technically adept Technical Project Manager and Solutions Architect to join their growing team. This role involves project management, business analysis, and solutions architecting to lead the implementation of software solutions within their Salesforce ecosystem, particularly focusing on the new Electronic Medical Record system.

Responsibilities

Actively engage with business stakeholders (virtually or in person) to identify needs, pain points, and opportunities for improvement
Document and translate business requirements into clear user stories and technical specifications
Analyze cross-departmental impacts and ensure alignment across teams
Own the full project lifecycle — from initial scoping and prioritization through delivery, testing, deployment, and feedback loops
Use tools like Jira and Confluence to track progress, manage sprints, and communicate status updates
Provide regular status reporting to leadership, surfacing risks, blockers, and upcoming deliverables
Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve user-reported technical issues; escalate to developers when needed
Test new features, coordinate UAT, gather user feedback, and support ongoing optimization
Perform basic Salesforce administrative tasks (e.g., fields, validation rules, reports, flows/workflows) to accelerate delivery
Support system operations post-deployment, contributing to long-term sustainability and adoption

Required

3+ years of experience as a Project Manager, Business Analyst, or similar hybrid role
Hands-on experience with Salesforce (Admin, Platform App Builder, or light Developer-level knowledge)
Proficiency with Agile methodologies and project tracking tools like Jira
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — able to translate technical concepts for business audiences and vice versa
Ability to document and manage both technical and non-technical requirements clearly and concisely
Strong problem-solving skills and a delivery-focused, proactive mindset
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Ability to move about the office to access files, office equipment, and supplies
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times (e.g., moving files, office supplies, small packages)
Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, copier, printer)
Visual acuity to read and produce documents, emails, and spreadsheets on screen and in print
Occasional standing, bending, or reaching as needed to complete tasks
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and via email

Preferred

Salesforce certifications (Admin, App Builder, or Developer)
Experience with Tableau (huge plus)
Familiarity with tools such as Confluence, Slack, and Lucid
Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced environment
Knowledge or experience in an animal shelter, veterinary medicine, and/or nonprofit space
