Checkly is a remote-first startup that empowers developers to ensure application performance and reliability. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will enhance the backend infrastructure and improve the uptime monitoring platform while collaborating with a global team.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve our uptime monitoring platform, driving new capabilities that help customers observe and protect the most critical parts of their infrastructure at scale

Work with infra to deploy our own Clickhouse instance to capture check run logs and metadata. Design and implement an API on this datastore that allows customers to run reports on their check runs

Work with a customer to hunt down a bug that lets certain checks fail in their private location infrastructure

You will spearhead improvements to our status pages product to elevate it toward an industry-leading standard of reliability, transparency, and real-time communication

You'll work on scaling our current backend platform to meet the demands of our growing business, and participate in our on-call rotation to keep everything running smoothly around the clock

Required

You have deep experience in building applications in a professional product (SaaS) environment, ideally with TypeScript. (Go would be a plus.)

You're excited about developer tooling, and Playwright

You have experience building distributed systems on AWS or bare metal servers

You like to have business impact and the instant visibility that a start up offers

You like to work in a growing company with experienced founders

You assume good intentions and are a great communicator in spoken and written English

You have the ability to be autonomous and self-motivated in a remote work environment, while you also enjoy getting to know your colleagues and helping others

You are able to contribute across the stack and are quick to pick up on new stuff and enjoy the process of learning new things

You love making software!
