The N.C. Department of Information Technology is seeking enthusiastic interns to join their team at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Day Camps. Interns will assist with camp activities, mentor campers, and gain experience in informal education while helping to create positive experiences for children in a fun and engaging environment.

Responsibilities

Get ready to learn how to run a summer camp! Before the day camp starts, you will get an in-depth look at the fun activities, crafts, and curriculum our campers will enjoy this summer
During this time, you will become familiar with the camp program, our procedures, and how to assist our instructors during camp
Our day camp program starts in the middle of your internship and that is where the fun really begins!
You will assist alternating weeks either as an assistant instructor or a member of our Camp Administration team!
As an assistant instructor, you will assist with our camps where you will be a mentor and role model for our campers by helping them ask questions and discover the world around them
You will get to hang around some pretty cool children while helping to inspire the next generation of scientists and explorers
When your role reverses to being a member of our Camp Administration Team, you will help man our program behind the scenes while you work with our K-12th grade campers
Your duties will change daily, even hourly
Some examples are holding one of our Animal Ambassadors during a program, assisting in launching rockets, building bird nests, eating lunch with our campers, and more!
You won’t be an intern-you’ll be a camp hero, learning to create unforgettable, positive experiences for our campers
Along the way, you’ll become a pro at informal education and curriculum-based content
You’ll also sharpen your communication skills and pick up some essential office admin know-how, all while helping to run our fast-pasted educational program

Required

An applicant must be a permanent North Carolina resident attending a college, university, law school, community college or technical institute in North Carolina or a North Carolina resident attending an equivalent institution out of state
Applicants must carry a 2.5 or greater overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale
Applicant must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years old by January 1, 2026
Applicants must be continuing their education in the fall following their participation in the program
To qualify for a law internship, applicants must have completed at least one year of law school before the beginning of the internship, unless other majors are listed
Students having previously held paid internships with this program are not eligible to apply
Applicants must be willing and able to work full-time for the entire 10-week internship
Applicants must be able to provide legal proof of identity and work authorization within three working days of employment
