Governor's Office Policy Intern
The N.C. Department of Information Technology is part of the North Carolina state government, overseeing various operations and advocacy programs. The Governor's Office Policy Intern will support the policy team, engaging in research, analysis, and drafting policy briefs on diverse issues.

Responsibilities
Policy interns will work with and support members of the Governor’s policy team
Interns will have the opportunity to build and strengthen their professional skills, particularly in policy research, analysis, writing, organization, and interpersonal communications
Policy interns are likely to attend meetings with state government officials and representatives from other sectors including non-profit organizations, business, and local government; monitor legislation; draft policy briefs; and conduct project-specific research and outreach on a variety of issues such as education, energy and environment, opioids, workforce and economic development, healthcare, and criminal justice and reentry
Multiple products including, but not limited to, memos and research documents, PowerPoint presentations, and correspondence documents
Qualification
Required
An applicant must be a permanent North Carolina resident attending a college, university, law school, community college or technical institute in North Carolina or a North Carolina resident attending an equivalent institution out of state
Applicants must carry a 2.5 or greater overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale
Applicant must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years old by January 1, 2026
Applicants must be continuing their education in the fall following their participation in the program
To qualify for a law internship, applicants must have completed at least one year of law school before the beginning of the internship, unless other majors are listed
Students having previously held paid internships with this program are not eligible to apply
Applicants must be willing and able to work full-time for the entire 10-week internship
Applicants must be able to provide legal proof of identity and work authorization within three working days of employment
Professionalism; strong analytical, writing, and communication skills; ability to multitask while maintaining strong attentions to detail; ability to work independently; research and analysis experience; interest in public policy issues
Preferred
Academic Majors Desired: Public Policy, political science, government, public administration, and will consider related fields
