Bioinformatician
Northeastern University is seeking a Bioinformatician to collaborate with various research groups and contribute to understanding genetic origins of complex diseases. The role involves building ETL pipelines, writing Python and R code for data analysis, and participating in machine learning model development.
Education
Responsibilities
Building ETL pipelines for genomics/transcriptomics data from public databases and processing them with publicly available codes in python and R
Documenting the entire process and all the codes generated and maintaining structured and regular commits in a GitHub repository
Helped implement machine learning models and automate the processing of input data
Write reports/prepare slide decks describing work performed
Contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals where appropriate
Qualification
Required
A Master's degree (or equivalent)
A minimum of 3-4 years of experience working with data pipelines and data analysis
Proficiency in Python and R
Experience working in Unix OS and remote computing clusters
Demonstrable expertise in bioinformatics, especially genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and/or metabolomics
Good grasp of statistics
An ability to write clean and well-documented code
Work with GitHub repositories
Preferred
Experience working with genomics databases like ENCODE
Familiarity with RNA-seq, eCLIP, and other data
