Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) is a leading provider, educator, and advocate of sexual and reproductive health care in New York State. The Sonographer (Float) performs ultrasound scans to assist in pregnancy localization and IUD studies, ensuring quality patient care and compliance with healthcare standards.

Responsibilities
Performs abdominal and vaginal ultra-sound scans on all referred patients to estimate gestational duration and localize the pregnancy, the placenta, estimate gestational and IUD age according to the PPGNY MS&Gs for Ultrasound Services
Performs intra-operative sonography at medical provider’s request, as needed for services provided by PPGNY
Provides medical providers with follow-up sonograms, as needed for services provided by PPGNY
Prepares all associated required ultrasound documentation and signs ultrasound report with accompanying images for provider interpretation and the medical records
Orders supplies as needed and keeps room stocked
Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in meeting established goals for productivity

Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in health care center efforts to comply with all organizational and quality assurance guidelines, and all applicable government regulations
Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in overall health center efforts to achieve all goals set to improve customer relations, increase customer satisfaction and promote repeat customer visits

Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies, and standard practices in the areas of ADA and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA
Works effectively with volunteers, trainees and temp agency personnel
Performs other educational and experience related duties as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED
Certification as a sonography technician in New York State
Ability to float to all centers within NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens)
Excellent patient service and communication skills
Ability to remain focused and calm in stressful situations
Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
Superior oral and written communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work effectively as part of team
High degree of comfort with electronic health record
Strong knowledge of abortion care and evaluation
Thorough knowledge of surgical complications
Familiarity with the principles of staff management
Familiarity with principles of process improvement
