Senior Visual Designer, Brand Marketing

Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal are seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and collaborative Senior Visual Designer to join the Brand Marketing team. This role focuses on designing and executing visual identities, websites, and digital assets for events brands, while ensuring brand integrity across customer journeys and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

Create new visual identities and extend or refine existing identities across event marketing initiatives and websites
Ensure brand consistency, quality, and fidelity while adapting visual expression for seasonal and cyclical events marketing
Apply expert knowledge of typography, type hierarchy, color, and composition across visual and digital experiences
Design and refine websites and digital platforms for events, implementing and expanding events visual identities, and applying UI best practices and UX foundations
Produce high-fidelity, dev-ready Figma files that reflect our brand standards and visual identities
Work closely with development teams to ensure design intent is accurately translated into functional digital experiences
Demonstrate a working knowledge of CMS tools, including WordPress, to support the production of scalable, maintainable web experiences
Apply responsive design, accessibility, and usability standards to all digital assets
Act as a brand advocate, supporting decision-making that aligns with strategic goals and brand guidelines
Partner with Events Marketing, UX, and Dev/Eng teams to plan, execute, and iterate design solutions
Participate in design reviews, feedback cycles, and brainstorming sessions to ensure high-quality output
Understand the cyclical nature of events marketing, including phases of campaign planning, promotion, and post-event activities
Flex brand identities to reflect seasonal changes and event-specific needs while maintaining foundational brand principles
Stay current on event marketing trends, competitor activity, and industry best practices, and share insights to inspire innovation and elevate the team’s work
Develop, evolve, and implement visual identities for events, designing both foundational elements and flexible adaptations
Design and iterate websites and digital touchpoints that align with UX principles and CMS requirements
Champion brand consistency and elevate visual design standards across events projects
Ensure all outputs are on-brand, visually compelling, and optimized for audience engagement
Use advanced Figma functionality for theming tokens, components
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Events Marketing, UX, and Development, to deliver high-quality design on time
Maintain awareness of industry trends in branding, web design, typography, and events marketing to inspire innovation

Required

5–7 years of experience in brand design and visual design, with proven ability to create and refine visual identities
Experience designing websites and digital platforms; working knowledge of CMS tools, including WordPress, required
Exceptional eye for typography, type hierarchy, layout, and overall design quality
Strong understanding of UI design, UX foundations, and digital design best practices
Proven track record of working in very close collaboration with UX teams, dev teams, engineering and UX program managers
Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Collaborative, design-forward, and able to champion brand while adapting solutions
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within cyclical and seasonal events marketing
Familiarity with design systems and the ability to apply them consistently across digital touchpoints
This role is not responsible for on-site events design or production

Preferred

Experience in event branding or marketing is a plus
After Effects a plus
