Maintenance Support Tech I- Woodville Maint
The Texas Department of Transportation is looking for a Maintenance Support Tech I to join their Woodville Maintenance Section. This administrative position plays a vital role in daily operations, assisting with various tasks such as damage claims, procurement, data entry, and inventory management.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as a receptionist or front desk assistant
Assists district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment
Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on adjustments needed
Coordinated with District Warehouse personnel on surplus property sales of miscellaneous items
Edits correspondence, reports, forms and documents for proper format, spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, syntax style, sentence structure, content and clarity
Assists with data entry for construction record-keeping
Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and/or permitting activities
Maintains radio contact with field units; responds to assists with emergency situations as required
Monitors and assists with data entry for maintenance contract record keeping
Monitors the use of equipment and transfers
Prepares statistical reports and verifies for accuracy and completeness
Prepares and distributes correspondence
Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders
Receives, sorts, evaluates content and distributes mail
Reviews and processes records of completed maintenance projects
Reviews, prepares and/or negotiates applicable program purchases for services, office materials, supplies, tools and/or equipment and monitors contracts
Maintains calendars for department personnel to include scheduling meetings, coordinating and making appointments, and travel arrangements
Processes receipts and invoices for payment
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Grad or Equivalent in general education
No Experience Required. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent)
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle
Office management practices and procedures

Roadway maintenance concepts, methods, and procedures
Inventory/stock control procedures
Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes
Purchasing methods and procedures
Applicable laws, rules, and regulations

Maintaining effective working relationships with others
Dealing courteously and effectively with the public
Coordinating labor and materials and equipment
Administrative support practices and procedures to include writing, editing and report writing techniques, recording meeting notes, record keeping and records management
Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports
Preparing technical/statistical reports
Using computers, applicable programs, applications and systems
Maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others
Follow verbal and written instructions
Shows initiative and action beyond what is required to improve products or services; is self-starting and completes assignments independently without constant supervision
Protects sensitive and confidential information
Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
Light Work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently carry objects up to 10 lbs
Sitting- prolonged periods of time
Standing-prolonged periods of time
Repetitive motion- Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close visual acuity- work includes data/fogures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
