The Associate Scientist I will conduct operational tasks and data analysis related to high throughput PCR genotyping services, supporting the lab manager in various DNA-based analyses.

Responsibilities

Conduct operational tasks and data analysis related to the high throughput PCR genotyping services offered by EBDI
Support the MBGT lab manager and other supervisors in the lab in conducting all phases of DNA-based analysis of plant and animal samples
Preparation of paperwork
Preparation samples
Extraction of DNA
Implementation of qualitative and quantitative PCR-based assays
Analysis of PCR-products by agarose gel electrophoresis and fluorescence-based detection
Digital imaging of gels
Preparation of libraries
Genotyping of SNPs utilizing Array Tape Platform
Analyzing and formatting the data generated by these platforms

Required

A Bachelor of Science in a field related to Agriculture, Biology or Genetics is required
Experience with DNA extraction, PCR Genotyping platforms, workflows, data scoring and reporting will be required
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

Experience with SNP based genotyping using Array Tape Platform
Experience with high throughput DNA extraction methods and automated liquid handlers
Experience with end point and real time PCR methods and data analysis
