Manufacturing Equipment Development Engineer

They are seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Development Engineer to lead the design and implementation of manufacturing equipment while ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

Lead the machinery design and development process, which includes conceptualizing new projects, performing feasibility studies, and creating project plans
Define, oversee, and manage machinery design and development project scope, timelines, and budgets for OEM, Vendor customized machines, and inhouse AME designs
Lead technical discussions with OEMs, machine builders, and system integrators to translate process needs into defined machine capability requirements
Review and approve vendor mechanical and electrical designs to ensure compliance with performance, safety, and integration requirements
Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and support IQ/OQ validation activities
Ensure proper integration between new equipment with MES/ERP, Brentwood Best Practices for automation/controls architecture
Coordinate cross-functional collaboration among mechanical, electrical, controls, and digital engineering teams
Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOWs, equipment specifications, acceptance criteria, and integration documentation
Support creation of procedures for quality control, testing, maintenance, and operation of new equipment
Ensure compliance with OSHA, CE, NEC, and applicable global machine safety standards
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and reliability
Occasional travel required for vendor visits, equipment buyoffs, and site installation support
Execute Product Industrialization processes as required
Serve as primary liaison between OEMs, machinery vendors, and internal teams
Verify Equipment Requirement Specifications against vendors Design Specifications during the design and building of pieces of equipment
Execute Product Industrialization process as required

Required

Lead the planning, specification, design, and implementation of new and modified manufacturing equipment
Oversee the development of equipment concepts, vendor-built machinery, utility packages, and end-of-line systems such as shearing, trimming, and forming support stations
Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, and digital manufacturing teams to ensure equipment integrates seamlessly with Prophecy (Godlan MES), SPC, and broader factory data systems
Emphasizes project leadership, OEM/vendor coordination, equipment capability validation, and integration of new equipment into thermoforming operations
Lead the machinery design and development process, which includes conceptualizing new projects, performing feasibility studies, and creating project plans

Functional use of SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling software to generate fully detailed solutions to engineering problems and provide engineering drawings
Experience managing outsourced equipment builds, vendor qualification, and technical project leadership
Familiarity with MES platforms (Prophecy/Godlan) and Control Protocols
Functional understanding of mechanical/electrical design principles and the ability to review OEM design packages
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or managers and employees of organization
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
OTHER: Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, FEA analysis, creating and interpreting electrical mechanical and hydraulic schematics, and bills of materials. Familiar with regular plastic and metal materials. Familiar with machine safety control system design requirements, electrical design standards and panel design standards such as NEC UL CSA and CE, OSHA requirements associated with machine design, applicable ISO 9000, and quality system requirements and policies

Preferred

Experience with thermoforming or plastics processing equipment preferred
PMP certification or demonstrated project management experience preferred
