Responsibilities
Performs moderate to high complexity testing procedures on a variety of samples to gather data that aids the care provider in treating or monitoring the treatment of patients
Performs procedures to ensure the accuracy of patient results
Responds to routine questions or concerns with health care providers; refers more complex concerns or questions to Senior Scientists
Performs maintenance on all laboratory analyzers
Conducts a variety of analytical scientific procedures accurately and timely to meet the needs of patient care
As assigned, works on independent projects with the goal of improving work flow and organization with the creation of new procedures
Maintains knowledge and is competent to work in all sub sections of the laboratory, to include: Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Banking, Serology and Microbiology (off-shift generalist)
May receive and/or assigned be a second specialty area for rotation in areas as needed for coverage
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or related fields
Three (3) years of laboratory experience performing testing
Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist from a state licensing agency OR Current board certification from MT-ASCP or CLS-NCA
All new employees are required to produce a negative drug screen for all illegal substances in the State of Alaska prior to start of employment
