Post-Undergraduate (Year-Long) Internship: Molecular Biology and Metabolic Engineering
National Laboratory of the Rockies (NREL) is the nation's primary laboratory for energy systems research and development. They are seeking a post-undergraduate intern to support research and development activities focused on the valorization of critical metals from various feedstocks using engineered proteins and bacteria.

Protein production and purification
Operating liquid handling robots
Performing plate based biochemical assays
Documenting and communicating technical progress for the team
Contribute towards research that will be utilized in peer-reviewed publications
Qualification
Required
Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor's degree program from an accredited institution
Post Undergraduate: Earned a bachelor's degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year
Graduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master's degree program from an accredited institution
Post Graduate: Earned a master's degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year
Graduate + PhD: Completed master's degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution
The successful candidate will have recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, chemical and biological engineering, bioengineering, biology, chemistry, or a similar field
Demonstrated ability to work safely with minimal supervision in a lab setting
Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage lab documentation effectively
Communicates scientific findings clearly and succinctly to peers
Strong critical thinking to formulate hypotheses and interpret experimental results
Preferred
Demonstrated experience with protein purification workflows
Demonstrated knowledge or experience in protein production and purification
Operating liquid handling robots
Performing plate based biochemical assays and using plate reader instrumentation
Programming experience in Python, particularly for data analysis and experimental automation
