Responsibilities

As a Public Affairs and Media Engagement Specialist, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and coordinating responses to media queries; and when directed and under U.S. Government supervision, answer media queries on a non-attributable basis
Media Operations Officers will be expected to support emergent 24/7 shift surge requirements, when necessary, in case of crisis or other unforeseen events, or as directed by the Director, CCPA to provide media monitoring and real-time feedback on news and press coverage on key USCENTCOM issues, providing the ability to alert CCPA leadership of breaking coverage and to correct inaccurate reporting
Conduct research as required to write public affairs guidance (PAG), response to query (RTQ), and talking points (TPs) on key issues
Plan and conduct daily conference calls with community PAOs, including both higher PA headquarters and USCENTCOM component PA offices
Provide media training expertise to key senior USCENTCOM leaders or designated spokespersons
Develop and provide preparatory books for key senior USCENTCOM leaders in advance of media engagements
Develop and provide a timely rollup summary product to CCPA leadership and other USCENTCOM leaders at the end of a media engagement or coverage of a high-profile issue
Assist in the preparation of senior CCPA personnel in executing weekly public affairs briefings with the Pentagon Press Corps, including the development of timely talking points, taking notes on the briefings, researching queries in real-time as required, etc

Required

Current Top Secret Security Clearance
Proficiency with the AP Stylebook
5+ years of experience in developing public affairs plans and media campaigns
Bachelor's degree
Current U.S. passport
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to exercise sound judgment in a dynamic and highly political environment is required
Must exhibit excellent organizational, time management, writing, editorial, and presentation skills

Preferred

Defense Information School (DINFOS) Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course (PAOQC)
Experience in U.S. military public affairs
Experience in a country or area in the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility - Middle East or Central Asia
Joint professional military education (JPME)
