Responsibilities

Routinely track market and industry developments, keeping a pulse on internal and external trends, ideas, and opportunities, and analyzing signals for actionable insights
Provide research, data analysis, and logistical support for the strategic planning process, to include preparing materials, coordinating meetings, and documenting outcomes to ensure optimal execution
Synthesize large amounts of information from disparate sources into digestible formats to share with the team
Develop research findings and data-driven insights based on internal and external data and research, and identify potential future opportunities
Draft summary reports and presentations to enable decision-making, leveraging tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Canva
Identify external innovations and best practices (e.g., innovation labs, external organizations), build relationships, and bring learnings to leadership for discussion on potential internal applications
Stay current on the latest tools, technologies, and trends in innovation, and incorporate relevant tools and techniques into the organization, equipping teams for consistent innovation
Participate in and support the development of pilots to test, monitor, and study new innovations and strategic possibilities
Support and facilitate planning discussions, meetings, and events for teammates, leaders, and executives
Participate in and contribute to ongoing team learning opportunities by posting responses, articles, studies, and findings in designated learning channels
Incorporate innovation into culture and strategy through daily research, supporting continuous improvement, and translating insights into discussions and visuals, while highlighting successes and promoting an innovative mindset through aligned communications
Collaborate with the internal communications team to develop strategies and create visualizations that effectively share the strategic innovation story
Collaborate with teammates across the organization to further develop their innovative ideas
Update, organize, and maintain the internal idea generation portal and process
Maintain, archive, and organize files, trackers, calendars, and associated organizational tools such as Teams and SharePoint
Maintain an internal library/repository, ensuring clear organization and accessibility of relevant strategic innovation education and learning information
Monitor and maintain team email accounts, responding to inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Attend industry conferences, educational events, and opportunities as identified
Record meeting minutes and translate to key actions and takeaways
Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles

Required

Three years of experience in strategy, research, innovation, trend analysis, or business insights
Two years of experience facilitating collaborative, cross-functional workgroups and/or strategic discussions
Two years of experience developing visuals and high-quality presentations, interpreting and visualizing data, and clearly communicating insights and their impacts
One year of experience analyzing diverse data sources to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities
Bachelor's degree. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Forward-thinking and innovative, with demonstrated curiosity and creativity to anticipate emerging trends, identify opportunities, and design practical solutions that go beyond the status quo
Ability to understand and maintain awareness of the needs, concerns, and issues within military service organization (MSO) and veteran service organization (VSO) communities, integrating this knowledge into strategic initiatives
Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to conduct environmental scans, evaluate diverse data sources, identify trends, and synthesize insights into actionable strategies and innovation opportunities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas and qualitative/quantitative insights into clear, compelling narratives that guide decision-making
Adaptability and resilience in fast-paced, evolving environments, with the ability to embrace change, pivot direction, and apply continuous learning to refine innovation strategies
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) and collaboration platforms (SharePoint, Teams, Mural), and familiarity with visualization and design tools such as Canva
Demonstrated skills in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling to communicate insights effectively and support informed decision-making
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships at all levels of an organization and to build successful, effective partnerships
Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive matters with diplomacy, empathy, and confidentiality
Unequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct

Preferred

Two years of experience conducting research and/or data analysis to inform strategy, program development, or innovation initiatives
Two years of experience preparing materials, communicating insights, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to support organizational strategy
Experience working in a VSO, MSO, or nonprofit environment
