Vice President, Medical Affairs

Responsibilities
Develop and execute global Medical Affairs strategy across all programs and therapeutic areas in alignment with corporate goals and priorities
Partner with clinical development teams on late-stage planning and lead Medical Affairs launch readiness activities
Provide cross-functional leadership and strategic input across clinical development, clinical operations, regulatory affairs, commercial, market access, and pharmacovigilance to inform product development strategies and commercial planning
Oversee operations, budget management, and tactical execution of medical affairs initiatives
Oversee publication strategy and execution
Lead congress and scientific meeting strategy to maximize scientific impact and visibility
Advance collaborations with Key Opinion Leaders and establish robust partnerships within the medical and scientific community, including oversight of KOL interactions, advisory board strategy, academic partnerships, and professional society activities to generate actionable insights
Oversee Medical Science Liaison (MSL) and Medical Information teams to deliver high-quality, compliant scientific exchange
Establish and oversee medical engagement strategies, directing team interactions with HCPs and synthesizing insights to inform organizational strategy and tactics
Oversee the gathering and synthesis of customer insights regarding Vir Bio and competitor products, translating findings into strategic recommendations to inform medical and commercial decision-making
Lead medical education initiatives to support disease state awareness and product knowledge
Serve as a medical and scientific representative of Vir Bio in interaction with external partners, including KOLs, medical experts, government agencies, and patient/provider organizations
Lead, mentor, and develop an existing team of medical affairs professionals, elevating team capabilities and performance to meet evolving business needs
Build a culture of transparency, innovation, teamwork, and scientific excellence
Maintain Medical Affairs excellence through adherence to the highest quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
Qualification
Required
MD or PharmD/PhD and 10+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry with progressive leadership responsibility
Significant experience in infectious diseases and/or oncology
Direct experience supporting mid-to-late-stage clinical development and ideally have supported a commercial product launch
Proven experience leading and developing medical affairs teams
Direct experience in medical field roles or leading medical field teams
Strong strategic thinking with proven ability to develop and execute strategies aligned with corporate goals in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
Demonstrated ability to scale and optimize medical affairs functions
Ability to inspire colleagues and promote collaboration across organizational boundaries
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to travel up to 30%
