Job Developer

AbilityPath is a non-profit organization that empowers people with special needs to achieve their full potential through inclusive programs and community partnerships. The Job Developer will provide job training and coaching services for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, helping them to pursue, attain, and retain employment for independent living.

Responsibilities

Engage with participants to explore their career interests, strengths, and employment goals
Conduct targeted outreach, cold calling, and employer research to identify meaningful job opportunities
Build employer relationships, propose new placements, and negotiate job matches that lead to competitive employment
Partner with each person served to develop individualized placement plans centered around their skills, preferences, and long-term career aspirations
Collaborate with families, counselors, and interdisciplinary teams to set job development goals, clarify expectations, and ensure that employment paths align with each person's unique needs and abilities
Equip individuals with the tools they need to succeed in the workforce—resume building, application support, and interview coaching
Provide tailored instruction to help participants present their strengths confidently and independently throughout the hiring process
Promote inclusive hiring by cultivating and maintaining strong partnerships with local businesses and community organizations
Act as an advocate for equitable employment opportunities, represent AbilityPath at community events, and help expand access to meaningful, integrated work experiences
Maintain accurate documentation, update records, and complete required placement paperwork
Track goal progress, respond to feedback, and prepare monthly reports to ensure participants' achievements are celebrated and every placement meets project, regulatory, and quality standards

Required

1+ years previous work or volunteer experience supporting adults with disabilities
Previous experience in professional settings and work environments
Associate degree or working towards completion
Valid California Driver's License/ID
Proof of negative TB test results
Verification of occupational physical clearance
Pass a criminal fingerprint clearance
18 years of age or job permit clearance
This position requires use of your personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement available)
Physical stamina to engage in work activities in various work environments
Ability to drive vehicle and transport adults with disabilities
Lift up to 25 lbs. as needed
