Responsibilities

Define and lead the technology roadmap for the Patent Licensing group, ensuring alignment with Dolby’s long-term business goals
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends in media and AI that may impact future licensing opportunities
Represent Dolby in international standards bodies and industry consortia, advocating for technical directions that align with Dolby’s IP and licensing strategy
Lead Dolby’s technical contributions to standards development, ensuring strategic alignment with licensing programs
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to executive leadership and cross functional stakeholders
Translate technology strategy into actionable business insights and licensing opportunities
Partner with Dolby’s Advanced Technology Group as well as external research organizations to align long-term innovation with licensing strategy
Collaborate with product management and licensing teams to ensure technical strategy supports business offerings and market needs
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of technologists and standards experts
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence across internal and external research partnerships
Develop and manage technology budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across initiatives
Oversee technical planning and execution for licensing-related programs and standards participation

Required

Proven experience in senior technology leadership roles within media, AI, or communications technologies
Recognized and respected leader with strong visibility and influence across international standards and media technology communities
Deep expertise in video and audio coding standards, AI applications in media, and global standards ecosystems
Strong understanding of patent licensing models and IP strategy
Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and influencing industry standards
Advanced technical degree with 15+ years in media or communications standards; prepared for enterprise-level leadership impact
Excellent interpersonal skills; must work well in fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment
Embodies Dolby's integrity, curiosity, and long-term innovation mindset; thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving global environment
Strong presence, reputation and credibility in the global technology industry
Good team building capabilities. Capability to recruit, coach and develop organizational talent
Have the ability to communicate with attorneys and give practical advice
Have a deal driven mindset with exceptional business acumen and judgement
