Classification Analyst (Scientist 3/4)
Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The position of Scientist 3/4 involves supporting the Defense Protection Directorate's Office of Classification and Controlled Information by implementing the Laboratory's Classification Program and training employees on classification matters.

Responsibilities
Support the Laboratory's Classification Officer in successfully implementing the Laboratory's Classification Program in accordance with DOE Order 475.2B, Identifying Classified Information
Provide innovative approaches to enhance work process efficiency and efficacy
Read and comprehend the corpus of classification guides issued to the Laboratory by US Government sponsors and analyze their applicability to the diverse and complex national security problems being addressed across the Laboratory
Assist and participate in training new LANL Derivative Classifiers (DCs) supporting a broad range of technical programs and briefing all LANL employees on classification matters
Collaboratively develop interpretive classification to assist the Laboratory's DCs by summarizing classification guidance from diverse sources in the context of a specific, complex, and interdisciplinary problem/project/program
Mentor fellow Scientists and collaboratively develop and implement comprehensive technical training for DCs supporting Laboratory programs and organizations to identify classified aspects of work within specific programmatic areas
Lead in the preparation and delivery of engaging, relevant, comprehensive, and effective classification training for new uncleared Laboratory employees, newly cleared Laboratory employees, and DCs and technical staff
Work with classification experts at other Laboratories and Federal agencies as needed to ensure consistent application and interpretation of relevant classification guidance
Qualification
Required
Thorough knowledge and expertise in classified U.S. Government programs
Understanding of DOE/NNSA policies, practices and procedures relating to classification and controlled unclassified information
Extensive communication skills as demonstrated by delivering presentations covering complex scientific and technical subjects
Exceptional demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
Comprehensive ability to read and comprehend large volumes of technical information quickly
Strong customer service mindset
Evidence of confidence in making and defending decisions based on independent analysis of technical information
Advanced expertise in communication as demonstrated by developing, writing, and delivering presentations covering complex scientific and technical subjects
In-depth knowledge of classified DOE programmatic work, including DOE-IN
Demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks in a dynamic, unpredictable environment
Advanced interpersonal skills including the ability to lead interdisciplinary teams
Graduate degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation for Scientist 3
Graduate degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation for Scientist 4
Active Q Clearance
In-depth knowledge of DOE, DOE/NNSA, and DOE-IN classification and controlled-unclassified information policies, practices and procedures
Working familiarity with DOE classification guidance system
Previous experience as a Classification Analyst
