Senior Sales Tax Analyst

Responsibilities
Prepare and reconcile monthly sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
Thoroughly review monthly sales and use tax returns prepared by third-party providers, identifying and resolving any discrepancies
Manage the accurate and timely calculation and posting of use tax accruals on a monthly basis
Review capital expenditure (capex) projects and calculate applicable use tax assessments, ensuring accurate tax treatment
Serve as a primary point of contact for responding to tax inquiries and requests from state and local tax agencies, providing clear and concise information
Proactively research and interpret tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and identify potential tax savings opportunities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accounting, finance, and operations, to gather necessary data and support tax-related initiatives
Assist with tax audits, preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Tax Manager
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
6-10 years of progressive professional experience, with a strong focus on sales and use tax compliance
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. and Canadian sales and use tax laws and regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred
Prior experience within a tax or finance/accounting department is essential, with direct tax experience being highly preferred
Experience with SAP and Avalara is highly preferred
