Responsibilities
Responsible for the installation of doors, hose beds, compartment internals, and body panels, and fabrication of boxes, brackets, and doors
Drills and tap holes and perform light fabrication to complete projects as needed
Measures and marks cutting and bending lines
Able to draw, read, and understand specs and blueprints to build fire apparatus
Installs customized options chosen by customers and called out in the specifications
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the department
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED
5 years of previous fabrication experience preferred
Strong mechanical and technical ability required
Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books
Able to draw a print by hand
Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately
Able to follow written and verbal directions
Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot
Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed
Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines
Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment
Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all
Able to understand brake radius
Able to understand metal thickness
Driving- license
May be required to operate company vehicles to move parts needed from building to building for production purposes
Driving- Own Vehicle
May be required to drive between buildings
Hours of work- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally
Overtime as needed to meet the needs of the department
Travel- Local
