Responsibilities
Oversees reimbursement activities for the UF Health enterprise including regulatory compliance, CMS cost report and FHURS (State of Florida) reporting, government payment rate updates, monthly accounting and annual budgeting for reimbursement activities, organ acquisition cost-based reimbursement, federal and state graduate medical education (GME) funding, and other supplemental funding mechanisms. Plans and directs the reimbursement strategies of UF Health service lines and affiliates, including related home office cost reports
In coordination with UF Health government affairs team members, monitors and supports federal and state litigation, administrative judicial reviews, appeals or arbitrations in which a UF Health party is involved. Actively monitors federal and state legislation (with other stakeholders including the Safety Net Hospital Alliance, FHA, AHA, consultants, etc.) and assesses impacts to the UF Health enterprise
Coordinating and monitoring ongoing federal and state audits associated with the cost reports, supplemental payment programs, and other filings
Lead and manage all reimbursement activities across UF Health. Develop and implement policies/practices, systems, and controls to ensure reimbursement filings are complete, accurate and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. Support accounting for reimbursement settlements and estimates in the general ledger, working with the UF Health accounting team. Educates department leaders and staff about reimbursement matters within their areas. Assists departments in training staff and implementing processes to support reimbursement initiatives and compile information needed for cost reporting and other filings
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
Minimum of 10 years of senior-level reimbursement function leadership in a large, complex hospital organization or multi-hospital system
