Responsibilities

Teach a range of courses in the Master of Arts in Education: Early Childhood Development course(s); Master of Arts in Education: Dual Language Education course(s); and/or Multiple Subject Credential Program course(s). (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof)
Provide leadership and/or coordination with university supervisors in the Bilingual Authorization (BILA) pathway
Conduct classroom-based scholarship or related research in the field
Provide service at the department, college and university levels appropriate to the faculty rank

Required

Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or a related field with an emphasis on Bilingual/Multilingual Education in Spanish or Asian Languages or another closely related area of education. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2026
Earned teaching credential in the United States
Possesses at least three years of teaching experience as a teacher of record in a United States transitional Kindergarten through Grade 6
Experience teaching racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse, multilingual, and neurodiverse elementary-level students
Exhibits commitment to teaching and working successfully with a diverse student population, including Black/African American, Latine/x, Native American/Indigenous, low-income, first-generation, and minoritized students in higher education
Demonstrates potential for classroom-based scholarship in the field, especially bilingual or multilingual settings
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

Preferred

At least one year of experience being the teacher of record in a dual language immersion classroom in the U.S. transitional Kindergarten through Grade 6
Earned a state Bilingual Authorization (or equivalent authorization for out-of-state applicants) for one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, or Korean; with priority on Spanish language
Potential for teaching effectiveness and excellence at the college level in teacher education program, with an emphasis on teacher preparation courses or post-baccalaureate courses in elementary education, bilingual education, and dual language development
Experience with mentoring preservice teachers in TK-12 urban settings, particularly those earning their bilingual authorization in elementary settings
Demonstrated capacity and potential for leadership (i.e., supporting other teachers, professional development) and/or curriculum design
Demonstrated ability in effective use of a wide range of instructional technologies and modalities pertaining to teacher education, including online teaching
Demonstrated capacity and potential for working with accreditation agencies, community partners, or bilingual communities
Experience successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
