Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administrator)

Responsibilities
Conduct system administration duties and recommend vital information technology actions
Manage user accounts and access to applications and equipment
Advise and assist other Information Technology Specialists in implementing approved automated systems
Prepare reports and submits to management pertinent findings and makes oral and written presentations
Implement systems software changes and new operating system releases
Manage resources, the installation, and integration of systems fixes and workarounds, updates, and enhancements including monitoring performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability
Qualification
Required
One year of specialized experience which includes: Diagnosing and resolving system or equipment issues; managing servers or equipment performance; and providing server administration or operating system support such as installing hardware or software
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience which demonstrates each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management
Three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks
The incumbent must obtain within 6 months of being appointed as a privileged user and maintain thereafter the appropriate DOD 8140.01 and DOD 8570.01-M certifications
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
A Personnel Security Investigation is required
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
Selectees will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact
Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position
This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules
