Responsibilities
Controls specifications and design. The engineer will need to specify necessary equipment for industrial automation applications in the areas of controls, robotics and power distribution within a work cell or line. The engineer will have the ability to translate those specifications into a deliverable controls drawing package. Experience in controls design with AutoCAD electrical or Eplan is a must for this position
Offline programming. Programming of PLC, HMI/SCADA and robotics in off line programs in preparation for installation. This includes the use of software such as Rockwell Studio 5000, Omron CX Programmer, GE Cimplicity, Rockwell Factory Talk View, Fanuc Roboguide. While experience in all of this software is not required, an understanding of the offline programming process, and some of these software systems will be required
Commissioning of the automation systems. Commissioning will take place on site at customer locations. Part of this responsibility is verification, and debug of the offline programs, or programs that have been supplied by others. Often times the customer site is not local, meaning travel will occur in this area of responsibility. Commissioning generally involves on site troubleshooting, and a support aspect where basic training of the systems to the operators, or management team is involved. Some electrical work will be involved here, as much of the commissioning process involves electrical wiring and troubleshooting of that wiring
