The University of Maine is seeking a Seasonal Program Coordinator for the Aquatics program at Bryant Pond 4-H Learning Center, where the focus is on environmental education and outdoor activities. Responsibilities
Leading youth in environmental education, trips, campfires, and community building
Ensuring safety during water-related activities such as canoeing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming
Building leadership skills and creating a memorable experience for campers
Qualification
Required
You need a High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
You need a minimum of 3 years related experience working with youth and teaching in the outdoors or equivalent
You need to hold an additional certification that is value-added to keep our campers safe like: Waterfront Lifeguard certification or have held this certification in the past and are willing to obtain again (training may be available)
Current CPR and First Aid certifications or have held this certification in the past and are willing to obtain again (training may be available)
Preferred
You hold a higher additional certification that is specific to the outdoors like: Wilderness Responder Certification
You have a genuine motivation to work with children in a vibrant, high-energy outdoor setting where every day is an adventure
You demonstrate responsible and safe decision-making skills, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all campers during outdoor programming
You have the ability to lead groups in various outdoor environments, comfortably carrying a small backpack filled with teaching supplies and a first aid kit to support your activities
