Responsibilities

Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities
Performs work involved in the maintenance, installation, repair, and weatherproofing of roof
Following clear-cut work orders and instructions from supervisors or higher-grade worker, performs masonry task involved in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of interior and exterior surfaces and structures
Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures. Works on projects, such as building frames, rafters, concrete forms, walls, staircases, door and window frames, interior and exterior trim, and other miscellaneous items
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment
Uses and maintains tools

Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
This position may require drug testing, and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection
Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
Selectee may be required to work with and/or remove hazardous materials; a certification may be required

Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period
Selectee may be exposed to toxic paints, chemicals or other hazards and may require occupational health examinations
Selectee may be required to drive a motor vehicle; an appropriate valid driver's license may be required
Selectee may be required to train/guide lower graded (or other trades) military/civilian employees
This position may require emergency overtime
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision

Preferred

A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
Completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training program in Cement Masonry and roofing is desired
A valid Florida driver's license will be required
Four years' experience as a Mason and Roofer or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable but not always required
An understanding of construction principles, safety protocols, and building codes is advantageous
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications is beneficial
Good physical stamina and strength to stand, bend, lift, and carry heavy and bulky items
Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
Knowledge of safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential qualities for this role
