Senior Field Environmental Compliance Manager

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Field Environmental Compliance Manager to join their Earth & Environment Team. This position plays a key field role ensuring environmental compliance during active construction, working directly with contractors and project leadership across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Oversee field-based environmental inspection teams assigned to construction projects segments in PA and NJ
Manage environmental inspectors conducting erosion and sediment control monitoring, HDD oversight, trenching/backfilling inspection, and compressor station environmental controls
Review and quality-check daily field reports prior to submission to the ECC
Ensure corrective actions are identified, assigned, and closed out per PADEP and NJDEP requirements
Coordinate directly with contractor foremen and construction managers to resolve field compliance issues
Track field progress, access limitations, and schedule risks related to environmental requirements

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field
5 to 7 years of experience conducting environmental fieldwork, construction monitoring, habitat/impact assessments, or environmental compliance oversight for infrastructure projects
Experience overseeing environmental inspection teams on PA and NJ construction projects, including erosion & sediment control monitoring, HDD oversight, trenching/backfilling inspection, and compressor-station environmental controls
Demonstrated ability to work directly with contractor foremen, superintendents, and construction managers to resolve real-time compliance issues
Experience reviewing and QA/QC'ing daily field reports, environmental logs, and corrective-action documentation
Ability to identify, assign, and close out corrective actions in accordance with PADEP and NJDEP requirements
Ability to track field progress, access limitations, environmental constraints, and schedule risks related to regulatory requirements
Strong understanding of PADEP, NJDEP, and county conservation district permitting pathways and field compliance expectations
Demonstrated experience contributing to environmental reports, siting analyses, environmental impact evaluations, and permit documentation
Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret regulatory requirements for construction teams in a clear, actionable way
Ability to multitask in a dynamic construction environment while providing leadership and QA/QC oversight to junior field staff
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills for interpreting field conditions and recommending corrective measures
Proven commitment to safety and ability to comply with WSP's health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies
Ability to support non-standard schedules, including extended construction shifts
Position requires 100% travel and full-time field presence at project sites

Preferred

Master's Degree is preferred
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired
