Intern Engineering Support - Maintenance Division

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an engineering intern to assist in transportation engineering support work. The intern will engage in tasks such as construction inspection, data collection, and software analysis while learning about TxDOT operations.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Use knowledge of digital drafting software, such as MicroStation, to update TxDOT standard plan sheets
Use various analysis software, such as Tableau, for data analysis pertaining to maintenance operations
Be willing to learn new software and work strategies
Do research on various equipment and ideas that the division has
Go on field trips to learn about TxDOT operations in the field
Perform operating manual reviews and revisions
Learn about TxDOT contracting
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS
Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school
Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Knowledge of drafting software (Microstation, AutoCAD, etc.)
Proficient in using Windows Computers and Software
This job has been identified as physically demanding and will require a pre-employment physical
Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions

Preferred
