Responsibilities

Conducts, analyzes, and compiles the results of samples, tests, and audits on raw, in-process, and finished products and processes to ensure compliance with product consistency, safety, and quality standards
Routinely interacts with plant personnel to provide QA and safety-related information and to keep GSF and customers apprised of quality and safety concerns, techniques, and regulations
Maintains records and logs of tests, audits, and other quality procedures to ensure availability of accurate and thorough information
Trains new employees on GSF-specific techniques and practices
Calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of QA procedures
Adheres to food safety, quality and legal compliance. In the event of a crisis (i.e. product recall, fire, etc.) delegate responsibilities as outlined in the Crisis Communications and Management Guide
Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary

Required

Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or related field of science from an accredited college or university
0 to 2 years of relevant work experience, with an understanding of food safety and regulations
Knowledge of food safety concepts and techniques
Knowledge of food chemistry
Knowledge of food microbiology
Knowledge of quality assurance concepts and techniques
Knowledge of HACCP programs and related food safety regulations and processes
Knowledge of food processing equipment
Knowledge of food testing concepts and techniques
Knowledge of PC word processing/spreadsheet software
Ability to work independently
Ability to identify problems or irregularities for early resolution
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with internal and external customers verbally and in writing
Ability to read and process written information with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to perform a variety of food safety tests
Ability to work in a laboratory environment
Ability to work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service
Ability to act in accordance with GSF's Values and Creed
