Responsibilities
Assists the pathologist or pathology assistant (PA)
Frozen sectioning and staining within required TAT - Receives, registers, and accessions specimens in Laboratory information system for Surgical Pathology and Cytology departments - Maintains inventory in the gross lab, cytology prep area, and autopsy suite
Prepare, label, and maintain storage of chemicals for processing and staining
Cleans autopsy suite following an autopsy
Maintains cleanliness of laboratory work areas, sinks, refrigerators, centrifuges, stainers, equipment, and bench surfaces
Cerner order entry, print slide labels, and detailed worklists
Distributes slides to pathologists
Prepares specimens (surgical and cytology) for transport to Sinai following SOP and within time schedules
Package as appropriate for transport special request specimens (flow, FNA, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Less than one year of experience
