Responsibilities

Prepares areas for prescribed burning by using a backpack blower and raking and/or burning around utility poles, dead trees, buildings, or other assets
Assists with prescribed burning under appropriate supervision while following Ft. Benning’s guidelines and procedures
May assist with selecting and marking trees for sale, thinning, or disease control for designated timber stands
May assist with nuisance wildlife control
May collect, record, and summarize data, including those pertaining to forest inventory, threatened and endangered species, and game wildlife species
May work in duded impact areas with an explosive ordinance escort
Other duties as assigned
Must be willing to report to work at Fort Benning, Georgia daily
Must be capable and willing to do physical labor in often extreme high and low temperatures and high humidity
Must be willing to work hard as part of a team
Must be capable of taking directions from superiors

Required

Bachelor's degree in forestry, wildlife sciences, natural resource management, or related field: and field experience
Education in natural resources management, wildlife conservation or management, forestry, or related field
Applicable knowledge and experience outside of formal education that applies to natural resources and environmental management
Must be willing to report to work at Fort Benning, Georgia daily
Must be capable and willing to do physical labor in often extreme high and low temperatures and high humidity
Must be willing to work hard as part of a team
Must be capable of taking directions from superiors
