Responsibilities

Create comprehensive test procedures at the systems and subsystems levels and prepare detailed test reports

Specify and coordinate the development of software tools for instrument control, data collection and data analysis

Apply engineering principles to design, modify, or develop test stands, equipment, and test processes for specific programs

Conduct and/or coordinate off-site testing as needed at specialized test facilities, including radiation, shock and vibration, EMI/EMC

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience

Experience with one or more of the following: fiber optics, fiber lasers, high-power bulk lasers, optical communications, free-space optical communications, nonlinear optics, ultrafast lasers, spectroscopy, and integrated photonics

Familiarity with optical system testing equipment, including laser sources, OSA, power meter, PER meter

Ability to develop automation software for instrument control and data collection/data analysis using LabVIEW/Python/MATLAB

Well-developed organization skills, including the ability to handle many details and multiple programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Motivated, team-oriented individual with strong problem-solving abilities

Willingness to travel: Up to 20-30% domestic travel

Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a clearance

Preferred

Master's degree or PhD in in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field

Proficient use of lab automation software (Python preferred)
