PRN Director Supply Chain and Clinical Resources

The PRN Director Supply Chain and Clinical Resources will lead consulting engagements, focusing on supply expense management and operational effectiveness, while collaborating with hospital executives and clinical department directors to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership in the area of supply expense management to contribute to the facility, hospital, or health system’s overall strategic plan, especially as it relates to supply expense
Assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze data and make strategic recommendations, and execute a course of action
Develop, implement, and coordinate within the hospital or system:
Policies and procedures related to supply cost management and supply chain operations
Value Analysis and Clinical Resource Management Program
Product standardization and utilization
Produce and provide quality assurance of client deliverables
Lead client discussions and meetings to present analysis and facilitate client decision making
Support organization growth and maturation of service offerings
Provide market feedback to identify improvements to current solution offerings
Identify internal operational improvement opportunities
Mentor and assist staff development
Identify and qualify opportunities and track progress
Interact and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges
Continuously define and improve customer solutions
Coordinate the development and delivery of customer solutions
Provide educational opportunities to customers
Build and maintain strong, effective working relationships with various stakeholders within HealthTrust Advisory Services, and the organization’s leadership and staff
Establish and meet supply expense savings goals for customers as requested
Collaborate with organizations to ensure that the team can track and analyze financial data
Provide cost-saving enhancement strategies
Develop standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the supply expense management team to quantify supply savings solutions
Demonstrate financial acumen, which includes:
Interpreting a hospital’s spend profile to identify opportunities for improvement
Reviewing the hospital’s monthly financial reports to determine negative and positive variances
Demonstrating the ability to perform a basic return on investment model for new programs and additional staff
Demonstrating the ability to analyze financial and clinical performance data to identify variation opportunities and make recommendations to the team and organization in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan
Achieving financial objectives of the business line by managing operational expenses and updating revenue projections
Manage projects within scope, time, and budget
Provide expense-saving enhancement strategies

Required

Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
7-10 years of healthcare supply chain operations experience
7-10 years of consulting or performance improvement experience (relevant industry experience may substitute consulting requirement)
Experience with Materials Management Information Systems (e.g., Oracle, PMM, Meditech, Lawson, PeopleSoft, Workday)
Demonstrated ability in large-scale change management
Positions requires at least 50% travel
Core consulting skills including relationship building/development, presentation skills, business writing, analytics, and problem solving
Extensive knowledge in 1-2 of the following service areas: value analysis, shared services (e.g. accounts payable or purchasing), supply chain (Central Supply and/or clinical departments), and supply distribution
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong organization skills
Professional presentation and demeanor due to frequent contact with client executives
Knowledge of industry leading practices and key metrics
Knowledge of common industry information systems and applications and how clients use them to operate their business
General understanding of healthcare operations
Comprehension of basic financial accounting activities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
