Sr Health Physicist II – III (Dosimetry QA Lead/Manager)
UCOR is seeking a Senior Health Physicist II – III (Dosimetry QA Lead/Manager) to oversee health physics work and ensure compliance with safety standards. The role includes planning and coordinating health physics activities, providing leadership to other physicists, and maintaining radiation safety protocols.

Responsibilities
Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of health physics work usually in a project or staff group
Performs work that involves executing routine health physics oversight, but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting regulatory requirements or suitability of equipment and/or materials for health physics applications
Performs work using UCOR core processes and project-specific radiation safety plans
Plans, coordinates or prepares equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and award recommendations for equipment
Coordinates health physics efforts in assigned areas between other specialty and other disciplines, and with the client, suppliers, and contractors
When delegated, assumes a lead technical role over other health physicists, safety specialists or project subgroups for completing specific tasks
Assists in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel and provides input for their performance evaluations
Prepares letters to employees, vendors and clients detailing individual exposure to radiation
Reviews vendor bids and makes recommendations for selection
Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
Performs or assists in the performance of problem analysis and original design with respect to health physics requirements
Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quality assurance and staffing requirements for proposals
Reviews and checks work of subordinate health physicists
Thorough knowledge of health physics techniques, the design of radiological systems, and radiological engineering and design calculations
Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices
Good oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of industry or regulatory codes and standards relevant to health physics, normally acquired through:
A recognized degree in health physics, radiological engineering or scientific discipline
From an accredited college or university
Certification as a Health Physicist (CHP) through a recognized accrediting organization licensing through appropriate regulatory authorities, where required
Sufficient number of courses in health physics
Practical work experience in applied health physics
Under limited management direction, independently performs all programs and activities that fall under the responsibility of a Health Physicist
Performs health physics and radiological engineering, dosimetry, bioassay, independent oversight, and instrument functions to assure compliance with regulatory, contractual and company level requirements
Ensures sound radiation protection practices are accomplished through incorporation of program requirements and ALARA throughout project work documents
Updates and maintains the Radiological Control Program within the assigned area of responsibility and provides Health Physicist leadership to those preparing documents and procedures implementing these requirements
Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Full knowledge of project practices
Plans and coordinates independent work requiring substantial judgment and experience in the application and adaptation of health physics techniques
Devises new approaches to technical problems
Extensive working knowledge of health physics and coordinating work with other technical disciplines
Extensive knowledge of precedents in the industry
Knowledgeable of and performs difficult health physics activities with minimal technical oversight, or controls the scope of a discipline area on a large project
Coordinates technical issues with other departments or functions
Provides technical direction for specific tasks and assigns work to subordinate senior health physicists, technicians or project sub-groups
Working independently, develops and leads implementation of programs and activities that fall under the responsibility of a Health Physicist
Performs health physics and radiological engineering, dosimetry, bioassay, independent oversight, and instrument functions to assure compliance with regulatory, contractual and company level requirements
Ensures sound radiation protection practices are accomplished through incorporation of program requirements and ALARA throughout project work documents

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Health Physics or a closely related discipline or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education and related experience. Documented and verifiable training is required
10 years of related experience is required for Grade 26
12 years of related experience is required for Grade 27
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to facilitate project milestones. Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate to peers and management program requirements and ALARA throughout project work documents
Thorough knowledge of health physics techniques, the design of radiological systems, and radiological engineering and design calculations
