Atmospheric, Earth, & Energy Graduate Intern - Summer 2026
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is dedicated to strengthening the United States’ security through innovative research. The Atmospheric, Earth, & Energy Graduate Intern will engage in practical research experiences related to atmospheric science, climate, and energy research, working closely with engineers and scientists on various projects.
Publishing
Responsibilities
Work with engineers, scientists, and technical staff members to provide technical and/or research support to projects in areas relevant to atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences
Conduct research of moderate complexity in assigned area under limited direction and supervision
Gather and analyze data or information in support of scientific research
Communicate progress and results to the research group and work closely with team members to define project goals and address challenges
Present work to technical audiences through presentations, posters, and written reports
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
Must be a continuing student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related field
Demonstrate interest in topics of relevance to atmospheric, earth, or energy sciences, or a closely related field
Ability to apply basic engineering or scientific principles to solve technical problems
Proficient verbal and written communication skills to communicate research concepts, document work, and give technical talks/presentations
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
