Facilities Engineer (Painter)

Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, filling holes, and applying primers
Paints interior and exterior surfaces of buildings and infrastructure using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
Conducts scheduled painting maintenance to preserve building condition and aesthetics
Maintains a record of painted areas and touch-up requirements
Works with facilities staff and contractors to review painting work on construction and remodeling projects
Ensuring work complies with safety standards and facility specifications
Follow safety procedures when using paints, solvents, and tools
Maintain painting equipment, tools, and supplies in good working condition
Collaborates with other trades on facility repairs and renovations
Assists in the upkeep of infrastructure related to walls, ceilings, and finishes
Orders and stocks paint and related materials
Selects appropriate products for each task and ensures proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials
Completes daily work logs and reports issues or needs to the Facilities Services manager
Helps ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

Required

High school graduate or equivalent
3+ years of experience in painting, preferably in a commercial or healthcare setting
Strong knowledge of types of paint materials, surface preparation, and finishing techniques
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
Familiarity with safety codes and hazardous materials handling
Good communication and time-management skills
