They are seeking a Senior Designer/Drafter for Substations to produce and review CAD drawings, coordinate design standards, and support all phases of substation projects. The role requires deep experience in physical layout and protection & control drafting, and offers remote flexibility with occasional travel.

Responsibilities
Develop detailed schematics for AC/DC systems, control circuits, and relay logic
Draft single-line, three-line, and interconnection diagrams
Create wiring diagrams for control panels, relay racks, and equipment terminations
Integrate SCADA, RTU, and communication system layouts
Coordinate with engineers to ensure accurate relay settings and device configurations
Produce substation layout drawings including plan views, elevation views, and section details
Draft conduit and cable routing plans, grounding layouts, and equipment arrangements
Prepare foundation and structural support drawings in coordination with civil/structural teams
Generate bill of materials (BOM), cable schedules, and panel schedules
Apply client-specific drafting standards and ensure consistency across deliverables
Perform quality checks and redline reviews of drawings from junior designers
Collaborate with engineers to resolve design issues and incorporate field markups
Maintain organized drawing sets and revision control throughout the project lifecycle
Qualification
Required
Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting/design or related field
8+ years of experience in substation design, with emphasis on both physical and P&C drafting
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD platforms
Familiarity with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and utility drafting standards
Strong understanding of electrical components including breakers, transformers, relays, and control systems
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor documents
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Experience mentoring junior drafters and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams
