Lead Launch Engineer, Production Infrastructure (Starship)

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers to design and build Starship Production and Integration infrastructure
Own the hiring process, new hire training, technical/professional development, and performance review of all direct reports
Lead the project team, consulting engineers, and contractors throughout the entirety of the structural engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning process of industrial and commercial type facility projects
Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projects
Perform structural design and analysis calculations for structural steel and concrete
Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out
Manage structural and multi-disciplinary construction projects as it pertains to procurement, fabrication, and field erection
Manage oversight, and provide technical guidance on all design issues
Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and clients
Provide direct onsite engineering inspections and field observations
Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time

Required

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
3+ years of experience in the civil or structural engineering industry
1+ years of prior leadership experience leading teams, projects, or people
Ability to perform the following functions: standing, lifting, and carrying light weight such as materials or equipment (ability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted)
Willing to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, and rain
Willing to work occasionally in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise using appropriate personal protective equipment
Must be available to work extended hours and weekends, as needed
Must be willing to travel – up to 25%
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

Preferred

Experience being a quick thinker and using tangible problem-solving skills to find resolutions
Experience fostering an environment of extremely high personal accountability and responsibility
Understanding of other disciplines such as: mechanical, electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying
Experience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals
Experience with SAP 2000, STAAD Pro, RISA-3D, Etabs, or similar analysis software
Experience managing the design, fabrication, and erection of primary/secondary structural steel in a design-build atmosphere with high attention to cost and schedule
Experience with oral/written communication with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex problems to a wide variety of audiences including executive leadership
Experience pushing for constant improvements balanced with working effectively in a team environment
